I am a board certified psychiatrist, Professor Emeritus of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) with many years of experience of providing comprehensive clinical evaluations, individual psychotherapy, psychopharmacological treatment, and working with complex diagnostic and treatment resistant issues.
I completed my fellowship in psychotherapy and psychiatric residency at UCSF. For 25 years, I served as a Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and as a Medical Director of the Partial Hospitalization Program. I also maintained a long-term faculty practice treating individual patients. I have now opened a small private practice at West Portal Counseling Associates.
My main approach is integrative, combining both biological and psychosocial issues, and working with the whole person in all their uniqueness and complexity. I have extensive expertise in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, complex trauma related issues, women’s mental health, etc.
I do not accept insurance, but I provide you with a super-bill with all the necessary information for you to file for reimbursement from your insurance plan.
